What’s New?
The Lincoln MKX now returns for 2016 with new, and sculpted styling, an enhanced chassis and a new turbocharged engine. The luxurious SUV has been offered a full redesign, making it better than ever at moving individuals around in comfort. New features include a roomier interior, an optional turbo-charged engine, adaptive suspension dampers and fresh exterior metals. As a five passenger SUV, the 2016 Lincoln MKX is available in four trim levels; Select, Reserve, Premiere and Black label.
Exterior Features
It shares the Welcome Mat system of MKC that illuminates interior and exterior lighting while the driver approaches the car. The Aluminum Wheels range regarding finish and size, running from 18-inches wheels on the MKX Premiere to 20-inches wheels for MKX Reserve. The standard features for the Base Premiere include 18 inch alloy wheels, automatic xenon headlights, keyless ignition, adaptive suspension dampers, rear parking sensors, and heated side mirrors.
Interior Features
Lincoln renders the interior of MKX in an upscale two-tone treatment, and both laminated front window glass and Active Noise Control assist in contributing to a luxurious and quiet cabin. Leatherette upholstery, driver memory function and 8 power heated front seats come as standard. The newest version of touch-screen infotainment system of Lincoln is available and supported by traditional buttons and knobs for climate functions and standard radio. A 13-speaker version is provided for the MKX Reserve and MKX Select trim levels. A 19-speaker high-end audio system with the Quantum Logic surround sound is standard for the MKX Black Label and optional for the MKX Reserve.
Technology
Heated rear seats and headrest mounted DVD system are readily available and should delight rear seat occupants, as the heated steering wheel and the 19-speaker stereo are also available as standalone choices. Other features include a MyLincoln Touch infotainment, 8 inch central display, 10 speaker audio system and a satellite radio.
Engine/ Fuel Efficiency
The fuel economy ratings of EPA for the base engine are 19 mpg combined (16 city/23 highway) with all-wheel drive and 20 mpg combined (17 city/26 highway) with front-wheel drive. The 2.7-liter engine is also rated at 19 mpg combined (17/24) with all-wheel drive and 21 mpg combined (17/26) with front-wheel drive. A 3.7L V6 engine comes as standard though there is an option to upgrade to a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine. The 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission comes as standard in all models.
Safety
On top of programmable car features and automatic connection to the emergency services in case of an airbag deployment (offered is a smartphone is paired with the infotainment system), the brand new Lincoln MKX is presented with some improved safety technologies. Highlights include pre-collision assist with an automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping system, blind-spot information system, and cross-traffic alert which works on both the front and rear of the vehicle.
